The "HyperAging" process of aging and mellowing alcohol is based on the same theory that has been used to mellow liquors for centuries. Traditionally, the only way to age spirits has been to fill toasted oak barrels with the liquor and let them set, anywhere from 1 to 35+ years.
The secret "HyperAging" process was developed to bypass this time constraint, encouraging the liquor to age in a much shorter period. This process has been proven to age rum significantly faster than traditional methods, boasting a one month to one year ratio. This means faster production time and less storage/aging. Theoretically, a "HyperAging" warehouse facility could age twelve times (12x) the amount of alcohol in the same area as with traditional methods.
Even more impressive, our process makes for a smoother product with interesting and more complex flavors than conventional aging. Drinkers report that the aftertaste has less alcohol "bite" and more of those aromatic flavors than traditionally aged products.
Aging is relatively expensive because it requires specially treated barrels, storage space and inventory costs for a number of years. Evaporation also causes losses of 2-10% per year. For this reason, rum generally appreciates in price at the rate of about 10% per year. In 12 years, the price of a particular rum may increase as much as 200% (10% per year compounded). This is proven by actual market prices.
For example, 12-year old Eldorado Rum sells for $23 but 21- year old Eldorado Rum is $69 and 25-year old Eldorado Rum is $96. This 400% increase in the price of the 25-year old rum over the 12-year old rum clearly shows the appreciation in price caused by aging.
In one month, our secret "HyperAging" process ages the liquor the equivalent of one year of conventional aging. This means that one year of HyperAging can increase the value of our rum by as much as 200%.
With this information on increase in value of aged products, you can easily imagine the unlimited value of this process in the liquor industry which has tens of billions in sales of aged spirits.
We estimate that our HyperAging process can reduce the cost of aging spirits to as little as one-third of the cost of traditional aging.
Naturally, any large liquor company that could cut its cost of production by this much would dominate the market, making HyperAging a "must have" technology at any cost. The more you look at HyperAging, the more you can see the almost unlimited competition among large liquor companies for our process.
